About the Teacher

Shashank Shanbhag

Classical Hatha Yoga Teacher

Yoga Anugraha is an offering of Classical Hatha Yoga by a teacher certified from Sadhguru Gurukulam. These practices are offered in their full depth and integrity as passed down over many millennia, maintaining the sanctity of the tradition.

The practices offered here come from the Classical Hatha Yoga tradition, and structured by Sadhguru.

A Journey of Seeking

From an early age, there was a natural curiosity about life — a constant inclination to understand how things work and why they are the way they are. This led to a deep interest in science and technology, and over time, a strong engagement with analytical and logical ways of knowing.

However, as this inquiry deepened, it also became clear that while science offers powerful tools to understand the physical world, it has its limitations. It can explain how things happen and dissect limited physical phenomena, but not necessarily address the deeper longing to know the inner experience of life, of consciousness.

What I was seeking was not just information or intellectual understanding, but a direct, experiential knowing — something beyond thought and analysis.

Turning Inward

This seeking led me to spend most of my time introspecting and looking at what it is that I am seeking and how is one to truly know anything.

When I got introduced to Sadhguru’s teachings, it became evident that yoga is not merely a physical practice, but a profound science that offers tools to explore the very basis of one’s existence.

With this, the journey shifted from seeking externally to exploring inward. I realized that the way to know life was not through dissection and analysis which yields a limited understanding, but enhancing one’s perception to grasp life in a holistic way.

After being initiated into classical yogic practices, a period of consistent and committed practice happened, which brought about noticeable changes — not as beliefs or ideas, but as lived experience.

There was a growing sense of ease in the body, clarity in the mind, and a certain exuberance in one’s inner state. What was once effortful began to feel natural and effortless. Energy levels became balanced, and there was a sense of joyfulness and wellbeing that was no longer dependent on external circumstances.

More importantly, there was a deepening perception of life itself — something subtle yet profound, which naturally drew one further into the path.

A Natural Transition

Over time, as my involvement with yoga became deeper, it became clear that these tools are precious — not only for individual wellbeing, but for the entire humanity, for the whole world. If genuine wellbeing  and enhancement of life has to happen, it requires transformation in how one perceives, experiences and engages with life as a whole.

The decision to become a full-time Hatha Yoga teacher was a natural progression.

Having undergone intensive training at Sadhguru Gurukulam, the focus is now on offering these practices in their classical form — as has happened in the yogic tradition.

What This Means for You

Whether you are an individual seeking joyfulness, balance and inner wellbeing, or an organization looking to support the health and effectiveness of your team, these practices offer a structured and reliable approach.

They are not based on belief systems or motivation, but on methods that work when practiced consistently.
